Driving directions to Villas del Rio from Puerto Vallarta airport

From the Puerto Vallarta international airport, drive North on highway MEX 200. Sayulita is about 25 miles (35kms) north of the airport. Upon exiting the airport, take a right onto MEX 200 and an immediate left in order to be traveling north. Follow the signs to Compostela and Tepic. After approximately twenty minutes you will pass through the town of Bucerias. After passing through Bucerias, MEX 200 continues on as a four-lane highway for a few more miles until the turnoff to Punta Mita. Make sure to bear to the left here.

At this point the highway changes to a two-lane road, and heads up and over a small mountain in a winding and twisting manner with tons of curves. Watch for animals grazing along the road and slow moving vehicles. You will pass signs for several small villages. After passing through the village of San Ignacio, a small sign marks the turnoff to Sayulita, turn left and follow the signs to Sayulita. The road (Revolución) leads into the town center.

When you cross the bridge and enter the town center, take an immediate right right into Calle Pelicanos, going parallel with the river. Then take the first left into street Manuel N. Navarrete. Cross three small intersections (Gaviota, Delfines and Marlin). After the 3rd intersection the street becomes unpaved. About 40m further you'll see Villas del Rio on the left side.

Taking the Bus from the Airport

To catch the bus to Sayulita from the airport, cross over the highway using the pedestrian bridge right next to the airport. Look for the name Sayulita written on the windshield of the bus. They normally arrive every 20 minutes.

The 25-mile bus ride takes approximately 1 hour. The bus stops at the edge of town. From the bus stop it's a 10 minute walk to the town plaza. When you reach the town plaza, take the 2nd right into Calle Marlin, then take the first left into street Manuel N. Navarrete. After about 40m you'll see Villas del Rio on the left side.
