There
are two surfing spots in Sayulita;
a right (longboard) break in front of the Las Casas de Sayulita and
a left (faster) break in front of the campground about a 10-minute
stroll down the beach. Surf spots located to the north and south of
Sayulita can be reached via a rental car. For a great experience,
make sure to have Fidel take you out to La Bahia or El Faro; two great
surf spots only reachable by boat. Surfboard rentals and lessons are
availabe at Sininen Surf shop, one block from the Casas de Sayulita. |

Louis
Verdin maintains over 15 horses and offers a great Sayulita horseback
ride day-trip to a variety of locations depending on your preference.
Choices include jungle trails, long beaches, rides through the village,
or a combination of all three. For a special adventure, sign up
for the Canopy Ride tour which
involves a one-hour horseback ride to Verdin's private Jungle Canopy
harness ride, three zip line rides, and the horse trip back to town.

Make
sure to pack your mask, snorkel, and fins (or rent in Sayulita) in
order to experience some of the local snorkeling
areas in and around Sayulita. You can start by just heading to the
jutting rocks in front of Via Amor, just a couple of minutes walk
down the beach from Las Casas de Sayulita. Even better areas are up
over the hill to Playa Los Muertos and even on down to Playa Carricitos.
The best however, is a boat trip with Fidel to the pools off of Punta
Negra! |
Though
not often marked in Sayulita, plenty of hiking
trails offer visitors routes to secluded beaches and breathtaking
views. Always free to ask a local for specific directions. A few
of the more popular hikes including strolling the beach north towards
San Pancho and exploring the caves, following the old jungle road
south to Playa Carricitos, and hiring a guide to take your group
to Monkey Mountain. Of course, hiking around the narrow roads in
the hills above Sayulita is fun in itself.

To
many people, a trip to Mexico just is not complete without a fishing
excursion. Though certain fish can be caught off the rocks just south
of Las Casas de Sayulita, we highly recommend a trip with captain
Fidel in our personal boat, Karina. More information is available
in the Fishing/Boating section of this website. Be prepared for a
day of fun and success. You never know what you might catch. At the
very least, make sure to ask Fidel how the fishing has been lately.
You are guaranteed to get an honest answer. |
Plenty
of shopping is available just
steps from Las Casas de Sayulita including traditional Mexican artwork
imported from all over the country. Sayulita now has a couple of
clothing shops as well. Fine-crafted gifts and excellent souvenirs
can be viewed in some of the higher-end stores such as La Hamaca.
Make sure to bring plenty of cash (US dollars are fine) because
Sayulita still does not have an ATM. Puerto Vallarta and all of
it shopping is only 45 minutes away by taxi or rental car.
